In his press conference today, Governor Murphy announced that the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in NJ has grown by 162, bringing the number of total number of statewide positive tests to 427, with 5 fatalities. An increase was expected as more people get tested.
Governor Murphy has activated the National Guard and has been in regular contact with the White House, FEMA, the Army Corps of Engineers and NJ’s congressional delegation on emergency response, economic stabilization and health and safety issues.
All residents with questions or concerns about COVID-19 and resources available to them can call 2-1-1. NJ 211 is New Jersey’s statewide, comprehensive, information and referral service operated by United Ways of New Jersey.
Residents call also text NJCOVID to 898-211 to receive text information and stay informed. To receive live text assistance, residents can text their zip code to 898-211. These enhancements to 211 will supplement, rather than replace, the existing COVID-19 hotline, operated by the New Jersey Poison Control Center.
Gov. Murphy has already ordered the closure of all indoor “shopping malls, amusement parks, and amusement centers,” with the exception of restaurants at malls that have side entrances (they can sell take-out-only food orders). All other non-essential retail, recreational, and entertainment businesses may remain open until 8:00 PM daily, provided they abide by social distancing guidelines.
The State of NJ has established this link on COVID-19/Novel Coronavirus Information for New Jersey Businesses.
To anyone who has medical questions, Governor Murphy has established a 24-hour public hotline at 1-800-222-1222 (if you are using an out-of-state cell phone, you should instead call 1-800-962-1253) with trained professionals to answer inquiries about COVID-19.
